A Call and a New Baby

Last week as we were going to bed we got a call from a lady who asked if we knew Soldier (N).  I said that he was one of our LDS soldiers.  She said that they had been trying to get in touch with him because his wife was in labor and about to give birth to their second child.  They couldn't reach him on his cell because he was in night classes.  I said that I would do what I could and get back to her.  I called his company, finally got in contact with his First Sergeant, who had some compassion and released him from class so that he could call.  Here is the email we received from his wife a few days later:

This soldier told us that he was able to hook up Skype about 20 minutes before their son was born.  His wife wasn't due for 9 more days, and he is scheduled to graduate this week, so he had hoped to be home, but it didn't work out that way.
I was grateful to be able to make those calls with the title "Sister Elkins", which seemed to hold more weight than just a desperate mother-in-law asking for favors.  The Lord loves his soldiers.
