I just want to say that I am a little crazy this week because we are planning for our next DC trip on Saturday. When we start I am always afraid that we won't get enough soldiers to make the trip worthwhile, then it changes to hoping that everyone doesn't show up because there are too many on the list. We have 50 seats on the bus. Today we had 52 names. Then we got some calls and information that added 3 names and dropped 2. Ahhhh! That is still too many. We don't want to have to turn anyone away. There are always some who don't show, but we never know which ones those will be. One trip we had 12 soldiers show up who hadn't even signed up!
It always works out but I'm sure I'll lose my mind worrying till it is over and another successful trip is accomplished. We also take lunch with us so preparing for that is a challenge. We take the fixings for sub sandwiches, drinks, and cookies for 50 people, packed in coolers. If I could arrange for the weather, I'd be working on that too. Actually I guess I have been - praying that is. The prediction changed from rain to partly cloudy. That is better. It will be a little cold, but their uniforms are pretty warm so they will be fine. We will have 4 children on the trip this time. Hopefully they will be OK.
This little trick-or-treater was reluctant to get too close. We only had about 20 all night. Not a real big activity in our complex.
These are our new neighbors. They did a little trick-or-treating too. Daddy is a Navy man so you can see he has the military haircut.
Mom, sorry the planning is so stressful for you. That is hard to work around. It's probably like my stamp camps--I've never had one really flop, but there are so many parts that could go wrong, right? Sorry, that's not helping, hehehe. Anyway, just concentrate on how much fun it will be to have some of your own family there! We have our sitter all set up for after lunch so Jeff and I can spend some time in the temple, but we will see you around 10:30 and will get to visit with you through lunch time. It will be great fun! I'll pray for nice weather too. See you Saturday! Yippee!!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I like the way your little trick-or-treater is wearing her crown backwards. Cute.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had trick-or-treaters. It's always fun. We didn't have any that night because we didn't turn our porch light on. We ran out of 6 boxes of fruit snacks (20 in each box) at the Trunk-or-Treat. Mark says we probably would have had enough if we had one more box.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your temple trip. Just a couple more days and it will all be over and you will have enjoyed the whole experience. A couple days in your life is barely anything compared to the amount of days you have left on this earth. That's how I get through my migraines - telling myself it will all be over soon.
Sure love you both and am grateful for the work you're doing. You're both such amazing examples for us all. Tell our Heros we are grateful for what they do as well.
Love from our family :-).
