Critters

These ducks were in the pond behind our apartment.  Next is the beautiful blue heron that visited our pond for several weeks.

This pair of geese hatched some goslings.  It was interesting to see how the gander "owned" the entire area around the pond while she was on the nest, on a little island in the pond. He would chase us if we even thought about getting close to the pond.  Just days after the goslings hatched they all left for a new home somewhere else.  We were sad that we didn't get to watch them grow up.

This lone egret has been living at our pond for most of the year.  He should be fat for all of the frogs he has available.

This robin was taking a little bath in the parking lot puddle.

This Cicada is about the size of my thumb, not counting the wings.  They sure can make loud noises, but they are pretty cool to see.  He visited the entryway right outside of our door.  I opened the door to see what the loud noise was!

Look closely and you can see the spider web that greeted us each morning for a couple weeks.  Miss Spider must have been laughing the day Elder Elkins got that web full in the face, when he forgot to check before he went out the door.

The White-Tailed Deer are smaller than the Mule Deer we have in the West. They look only half-grown but they are still beautiful.

Mr. Frog thought that I wouldn't see him if he held really still. He is about 6-7 inches from nose to tail end.  (without stretching out the legs)  Isn't it cool how he matches the leaves and dirt in his surroundings? He hopped back into the pond after this picture.

  2. Hey look! Clark commented! Cool.

That's quite a collection of critters you have there. Isn't it fun how they each add an element of sunshine to our days? I like the frog, and loved hearing about the baby geese that you got to see. Spiderweb in the face--gross.
